He began his medical career in 1963 as a student at the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University (FMU) in Bratislava. Later, as a young ophthalmologist, he joined the Eye Clinic of the FMU in Bratislava in the hospital building on Mickiewiczova Street, from where he gradually rose to the position of Head of the Eye Clinic of the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava. He devoted a significant part of his almost 50-year career to continuous education, completing his studies and internships at many eye clinics abroad (Great Britain, Malta, Germany, and the USA ). Thanks to this, he received the title of Professor in 1998. He also served as President of the Slovak Ophthalmological Society for many years.
